Wedding's Chronology
   
 

  • 09:00. Arrival of the first guests to Almudena's Cathedral. They went in by the lateral door in Bailén Street (the main door is used only for the VIPs, the bride and the bridegroom).
  • 10:00.The Symphonic Orchestra and the RTVE's Chorus began to entertain the wait.
  • 10:50.The cortege arrives. Composed by: Prince Carlos of Borbón with the duchess of Calabria; the dukes of Soria, Princess Margarita and Carlos Zurita; the dukes of Palma de Mallorca, Princess Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarín; the dukes of Lugo, Princess Elena y Jaime de Marichalar; Princess Pilar with the King; Prince of Asturias Felipe and the Queen; and Letizia Ortiz with his father, the last ones entering the cathedral.
  • 11:00. The King and Queen went in with the Royal March sounding. The bride and groom sat down in front of the church table. On their right sat down the King and Queen. After them, the Princesses with her husbands and their children, the same did the rest of the Royal Family. On the left the family and friends of Ms. Doña Letizia Ortiz.
  • 11:05. Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, Antonio María Rouco Varela, began the ceremony.
  • 11:30. Prince asked the authorization of the King before accepting Ms. Letizia Ortiz.
  • 11:45. The Almudena's bells chimed, announcing the "Yes, I want".
  • 12:00. The ceremony finished with the sign of the matrimony and the witnesses.
  • 12:15. To go out of the church, the cortege was formed again. The first ones were the Prince and Princess of Asturias. After them, the Queen with Jesús Ortiz, the King with Princess Pilar, the dukes of Lugo, the dukes of Palma de Mallorca, the dukes of Soria, and Prince Carlos with the duchess of Calabria.
  • 12:30. A shielded Rolls Royce Cabriolé with glass top, got them by Madrid to Atocha's basilica, where they left the bunch. Meanwhile, the Royal Family and the guests went to the Royal Palace, where the lunch took place.
  • 13:00. Cardinal Rouco Valera held a mass in honor to the Virgen of Atocha, where the couple prayed before giving the ante la que los esposos oraron antes de entregar el bunch. The Archbishop of Madrid prayed for the 11-M victims too.
  • 13:30. They went back to the Royal Palace.
  • 14:00. Prince and Princess of Asturias entered the palace's door with a bagpipe band from Oviedo y Vetusta, that played the Asturias hymn.
  • 14:10. The couple, together with her families, went out to the palace's balcony to greet the people that went there.
  • 14:15. The official photographs of the couple were taken.
  • 14:30. The nuptial banquet began, in the Prince's court.
  • 17:30. The nuptial banquet ended
